Every week we will be posting an unsigned/independent artist on our blog. We're always discovering new music online and This Record Sound is our way of supporting the artists we think deserve to be heard.

This Record Sound #1 - Michaela

Scottish-born, London-based singer/songwriter Michaela has already gained quite a few fans within the music industry already spanning across both sides of the Atlantic. Michaela is best known for her 2010 U.K. single Never Gonna Give In with the remixes (The Almighty and Riff & Rays) reaching number 15 in the UK Dance Charts last year. Never Gonna Give In was also featured on Universal Spain’ s compilation called, “Superventas 2010” alongside Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Pink, Katy Perry and Pixie Lott!

So far in her career, Michaela has already worked with some great songwriters and producers for her debut album, some of which include songwriter/producer/musical director Simon Ellis (Spice Girls, Britney Spears, S Club 7) and American songwriter/producer Heather Holley who helped discover and has worked with Christina Aguilera for the past ten years. Heather describes Michaela as “a rare talent with an awesome pop voice,” while Ellis describes her as the ‘real deal.’ Michaela has also gained a large fan base in the USA with the biggest satellite radio station in America: Sirius XM Radio supporting her music. Larry Flick, Billboard Magazine veteran and host/executive producer of The Morning Jolt on Sirius XM describes Michaela as a very exciting, unique British talent to watch: “Michaela is a unique figure in pop music. She's focused on crafting, traditionally structured, incredibly catchy songs that will endure with time. Michaela has great music and an undeniably strong and charming voice. She makes me feel smart by knowing about her now... before the world has embraced her every note. And it's coming. I believe it. You should, too.”

Michaela’s latest release, “Who’s That Girl?” has also caught the attention of America again with radio support in New York and Chicago. She is focusing on her debut album set for release soon while also being asked to write for other artists both in the UK and in the USA. Michaela is one of the most exciting pop singer/songwriters in the UK and is certainly one to watch for 2012. Look out for this versatile, pop powerhouse while she makes a name for herself across both sides of the Atlantic.

With the end of the year (and the decade!) fast approaching, we thought we’d update everyone on what our plans are for 2010. Originally our goal was to write for other people, and we’re still open to the idea, but we’ve had so much fun recording our own songs this year, that we’ve decided to keep going and see where it takes us.

So, we’ve started work on our next album, called “Not Human”. We’ve already got demos for 8 or 9 songs in the can, with ideas for half-a-dozen or so others currently being bandied about between us! The album should be ready by the spring, and we are planning on making this available to download through iTunes and other digital music stores (date tbc). We’ve also got some other exciting ideas of where to take our music; we’ve been asked to do some gigs, and we’re also planning on doing some other promotional stuff like music videos, pod casts and live web casts etc.

Before all that though, we’re going to release an updated version of “Keyboard Sexy” (brand new vocals) which will be available for FREE download early next year.

Introducing Danael Hornby.

Living in Paris, Danael began working as an actor/dancer who made a career for himself as a choregrapher on various tv shows.

During this time he began writing and recording his own songs including a track called 'Extatique'. It was then that he decided to focus his attention on music.
After a brief period of artistic differences with his co-writer, Danael is now looking to the future. He is currently working on new material and will kick things off with a special French version of our track 'Beat On'.

In between recording, Danael has most recently appeared in Ysa Ferrer's 'Last Zoom' music video.

He will be recording 'Beat On' on Friday 30th of October in a Parisian recording studio.

Still Busting Out The Grooves...

Ant is spending quite a bit of time pimping out Keyboard Sexy, but we're still working on other stuff. We're hoping to start rehearsing a live set in the next couple of weeks, and we're writing new songs which we'll be sharing with you in the near future.
We're particularly excited about a new track called "Supersize The Synthesizer", and we've laid down a couple of rythmn and bass tracks for other song ideas including "Space Cadet", "Skin Tight" and a rework of "Casio Demo Heaven". We're also looking forward to getting our new recording equipment which is going to take our music to the next level!
